Furious Activity

Drygand is like Wotan, trying to prevent Ragnarok and to engineer a new world, with furious mental activity and behind-the-scenes interventions everywhere, going in disguise, to realize his desperate agenda.

The God of Nice

People want God to be nice: kind, sympathetic, understanding, loving, good-- essentially harmless.  Such a God, of course, is crippled, castrated, weak, useless, unreal, and anti-life,

A Messenger

God manifests in weird, uncanny hallucinations that are shocking, natural-unnatural, holy-unholy.  Such a fearsome numinous sublimity is a symbol born of the clash of incongruities, a chimaeric messenger from the Deep who should not be turned away but invited in to deliver the message.

Who to Whom?

In the chimaeric symbolon of man and Drygand that is mystical participation, who chooses whom? who is possessed by whom?  Who can tell?  But this is something Drygand does-- he combines opposites (himself not excluded) into a whole, and thereby makes a charged synthesis hot with heat of fusion.  Such is the cult of the Drygand.  He is Hermes usurping hoary old Zeus, become Supreme God.  He is many-talented Hermes with a cultish agenda: he always acts out of biophilia, for the salvation of the Biosphere.  And in oneness with him, one chooses/one is chosen, one is possessed/one possesses, and there is only the charged cultic eidolon: 'idol', idea, ideal of Ecology: Life-agenda.

Toward a Nonrational Model of God

The Self seeks to integrate the whole of Psyche/Nature/Culture, to produce creative genius-wisdom ( and not total ego-control); that is, to produce Ecology-mind, with its knowledge that Man is an epiphenomenon of Nature, and so cannot survive without it, and that he cannot control it, but must let its order self-evolve.

Phallic Eros is the transpersonal Life-survival Urge, the Daimon-within, the foundation of the evolved instinct which possesses and drives the conscious ego.  Eros-Phallos generates as well the evolving Self by means of its totalizing concern for the survival of all Life.

The Drygand is the chimaeric Dyad: a synthesis, a symbiosis, the uniting Symbolon of the self, the totalizing Totem of the Earth.  He is phallic Eros: the entirety of all the Self-preservative instincts.  He is the Life Daimon: the divine power to engineer a new world; he is the New Good, as the bad old world on its way out threatens to destroy all, with its deranged decadence: its avid glee in perversity and wrong-doing, its celebration of fear and greed, chaos and destruction.

Wyke Snake

Oikouros Ophis was the 'household snake' in ancient Hellas, the humble homestead guardian.  In a sense, this kindly protector of the domicile, found in many cultures, has been rewrit large, taking on the proportions of the primordial World Serpent; so now, the guardian of the Biosphere ('Earth Household').  It is the Drygand, of course, called 'Wyke Snake'-- oikouris ophis of the Biosphere, the dwelling of Life.  And he may also be considered, similarly, a novel form of the related Agathos Daimon, the 'guardian genius', writ large: the Agathos Daimon of the World.

Wyke(Eormanz)-- a form of the Indo-European root meaning 'house, village'.  Gk oikos (~'eco-'), L vicus, OEng wic (seen in names of English towns as '-wick').
Agathos Daimon(Gk)= 'good daimon', personal guardian often depicted as a winged serpent.

Assembling The Fragments To Evoke The Whole

The Primeval Life-God had all the power.  Subsequent gods of the civilizations could only draw some of this power, and had a tendency to become otiose and to be overthrown by an upstart or foreign god.

Drygand, however, is Primordial Life-God reborn; remade to fit the modern and future context.  He's a modern synthesis of archaic remnants, such as Hermes, Zeus, Agathos Daimon, Woden, Frey, Jormungand, Rudra-Shiva, Nagaraja, El-Baal-Yahweh-- a putting together of pieces suggestive of the underlying Ur-God, to restore the Whole, in all his power.

Drygand is, then, the ultra-synthesis, the ultimate neo-archaeo-pagan Nature-God-- with a terrible purpose.

The God-man

The true God is the transhuman Life-urge-within which wills us to mutate our nature to a syncretism of man with God, for humanity on its own is evil by nature, a chaotic mixture of under-evolved and over-evolved.  We are thus cursed by fortune to fail, with catastrophic results for all Life.

A god-man would be a psychic demigod, a coordinated dyad, a union of the banal egocentric and the numinous biospheric.

There is a God-within, beyond human self-interest values, and we must become transhuman, too, taking our destined place as Guardian of the future of all Life, harnessing the elements of our nature into a coherent, mutually-correcting whole, so that as god-men we can be Keepers of the Biosphere, of the wild evolved heritage of Life on Earth.  Humans have come to their end, and must move on from being accursed malefactors to blessed benefactors of the living planet: god-men.

Dare to dream beyond the known.

God is Ecological Will

Greed God controls this world, and is bringing it to ecological collapse.

To fight his evil regime, an individual must defy a corrupted society, ally himself with the new activist God of the Biosphere who is Ecological Will unbound.

The moral imperative of our time demands that we synthesize ourselves with this true God, metamorphosing a powerful chimaera of self and Self, a dyad of man and God which can prevail over human evil and its corrupted deity and save our world.
