The Wild God Remade

Unpredictable, scary-wondrous, mysterious, awesome-- the Wild God Pan, of whom it was said two thousand years ago,"The great god Pan is dead!"-- vast Pan, God of Nature, now reborn after two thousand years.  He is back, "the Once and Future God", the Self of Psyche and Nature where the two meet, recalled, revived, by the Peril of All Life on Earth, transformed by the Idea of Ecology, remade with intelligent purpose to drive him-- the Drygand!

Cunning-Kings

When the Twayne gave the Lodestone in to the Alwight's head, it bore the natures of the both of them-- of Wildiar the cunning-man, and of Bilwit the sacred king.  And when the Alwight had become thus Drygand, he gave the Lodestone also in to each of them, it bearing his nature, as the Cunning-King, of All Lifekind.  And so each one was himself and both and Drygand.

And then from the Twayne was born Hal Twayneson, bearing both their new natures as his own, and as such, Hal the Erf, Cunning-King, and Bairnaborn of the Drygand.

Cunning-man= magic-worker. OIce kunnigr= versed in magical art. OIce kunnandi= knowledge, accomplishment. OEng cunnung= knowledge.
King= 'son of the tribe' (All Lifekind). Erf= inheritor. OEng erfa/OIce arfi= heir.
Bairnaborn= grandchild. Scot bairn= child. OIce barnaborn(o-umlaut)= grandchildren. modIce barnabarn= grandchild.

The Work You Must Work

The Work you must work:  to help the Wyken-Self (ecological Self) to orgyte (manifest), as Drygand and his Menning.

The Drygand calls from the Deep, to be brought in to the World by you.  Wait heedful on the threshold of the Deep Mind, and the Deep Mind will come to you.  Talk together with the Deep, and between you, the Wyken-Self will wax and wyrdhe (evolve), and you will become Wykewise.  And the Drygand will then arise, bearing his Lodestone within him, the Living Seed of the Menning, and he will gift it on you, that you may bring it out into the World, for All of Life, to herald the Coming of the Drygand, and his Menning.

God of the Age of Ecology (Wykewisen Alder Teev)

The Regin of Onbiding (archetypal forces for survival) lie buried in the Deep Mind, as they are not wanted by Men, who live in thrall to the Searuvel (Evil Machine) they have unloosed, as the Dilgoth (Extinction Event) gathers to overwhelm the Wyke  (Biosphere).

But the Wolken  (primordial Nature Mind) from her Web has woven a Byzen (pattern, model), and laden it with Weald (Power).  And this Lodestone has come to make the new Teev of the Alder of Wykewisen.  And in this WykenSelf (the Ecological Self), this Drygand, the Regin of Onbiding are melded into one great WealdenGod (OEng  'Lord God') to break the Searuvel-spell so that Life can live on, in frith (peace).

Those to whom the Drygand calls from the Deep can become his thanes, his Menning, and bring him to his full Being in the World, and wake Men from their dark Sleep, to Wykewisen (ecological wisdom).

Initiation

The initiator stands behind the initiate, who sits facing away from him with head inclined foreward.  The initiator, with hands framing the initiate's head, says, "I, (name), give to you, (name), the Lodestone, so that you may undergo the Cherrenge, and become a Menning.  I give it... NOW (clasping head for a few seconds, then releasing).  Fare henceforth a Menning and work Menning on Earth!"

One may only be so "dubbed" if he has shown himself to be already mennisch.  Thus the act of initiation is merely grounding in time a process already (and not yet) begun in the person. 

Mythsynthesis

The chaotic, destructive Dragon evolved/transformed into the shamanic, totemic Drygand; and so, the fearsome primeval Dragon-monster becomes "God" (the Self-archetype of Man-in-Biosphere).  This happened when the Lodestone had formed in the Wolken, and was then dubbed on the Alwight by its human finders, Wil and Bil.  At once, Alwight also becomes Drygand, Wolken becomes Feorgen, and Wil and Bil (the Twayne) become the first Mennings.  And there is a change in the Wyrd of Earth.

The Lodestone was engendered in response to the ecological crisis of the Biosphere, gestated by the Wolken, implanted in the Alwight's head, and conferred in turn on the Twayne by the new-fledged Drygand, and thence to other humans ready for the Cherrenge from Man to Menning.

Drygand-- the ecological "God", a synthesis of Drygand, Alwight, and other nature-gods.
Wolken-- inchoate Nature-mind.
Alwight-- the protean Pan-chimaera of all species.
Feorgen-- conscious and intent Nature-mind, of which Drygand is an avatar.
Cherrenge-- the transformation of Man to Menning (Eco-mensch).
Menning-- the ecological culture-civilization of the Mennings.

This is the foundational myth of the Shaggy Sagenverden (myth-world).

The Ecological Archetype

The Drygand is the Ecological Archetype, the new God-idea for a world on the brink, with a prospect of terrible fate.  He is a synthesis of previous gods (archetypes), according to the Value-idea of Deep Ecology, in itself a synthesis of thesis-- the primeval chthonic ethos of Man's embeddedness in and dependence upon Nature-- and its antithesis-- the dualist civilizational ethos of humanist distinctiveness and independence from Nature-- resulting in an evolutionary final ethos of Man as heroic protector of Nature, ensuring its survival and freedom from human interference, to wend its evolutionary Wyrd..  The Drygand, the avatar of Deep Ecology consciousness, embodies this transcendent Idea which offers hope for Life on Earth.
