Velend is the Artificer, the creator of and, consequently, the slave of the Searuvel. And he is Master of the Dwergs, his workers, who mass-produce his inventions to spread the thralldom of Searuvel to every nook and cranny of the planet.
Velend= the Smith God (ONorse Volundr, OEng Weland, mod Eng Wayland). Vel (ONor)= artifice, device, machine.
Searuvel= the Evil machine. OEng searu= cunning device (~ vel, then). Ger uvel= evil.
Dwerg= dwarf. OEng dweorg, ONor dvergr (?~ OEng thweorh, ONor thverr= perverse).
