World Strategy

The world at this time desperately needs an ecological prophet, an axial figure who will shift reality forever, an inspired, possessed, creative-genius culture-hero who can galvanize the world.  But, thinking of the case of Jesus, such a figure would be vulnerable to assassination or enthrallment, becoming merely a puppet, and in either case, neutralized.  And so, this figure must not be a man, but a myth, a legend, believed by some to be a living man, by others to be a useful fiction, and he is ambiguous-- heroic, prophetic man, or demigod? or daimon? or god? but in any case a living icon, and his 'disciples' keep the legend alive, an inchoate brotherhood, perhaps acting independently, often anonymously, like anarchic guerrillas making surprise attacks at important nexuses in the collective mind of global culture, and thus our axial world-transformer is the rough, ambiguous product of many attuned minds acting independently, with the same aim, each contributing what he can to the figure, altering him, evolving him as necessary or as one is compelled by inspired possession to do.

But of course, this enterprise would be massively countered by the powers that be, of all sorts-- the money and power blocs, the religious faithful, or just the motley population of evil and crazy individuals or groups who introduce chaos to the algorhythm.  And so, how this situation would play out in the end, is impossible to predict.  Even so, it might be worth a try in a desperate world.  And perhaps humanity will come through, as occasionally it does, getting it right, doing the right thing, and despite all mighty contending forces and confusion, the Good will win out and the Axis will rotate, and reality be shifted, and the great Catastrophe averted-- is it worth a try?
