The Snake-staff is the symbolic weapon of the Thane, a link-rod that shorts-out, grounds, the power of the Searuvel, shooting it back to the earth, the chthonic Ground, the primordial Serpent from which comes All. And so, the Searuvel loses Allure and Power, it is seen to be soulless, void.
By taking up the snake-staff in his grip, the thane may then wield it for the good of All Life. And what power has been stolen from the Searuvel is given to the Drygand and his thanes to aid their terrific purpose.
